Amazon sets $48B India investment plan through 2030

    June 26, 2026

NEW DELHI, INDIA / MENA Newswire / – Amazon CEO Andy Jassy met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and announced plans to invest $48 billion in India from 2026 to 2030. The plan includes an additional $13 billion for artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure. The new commitment follows Amazon’s earlier $35 billion India investment plan announced in 2025.

Amazon said the added funding will expand Amazon Web Services data center capacity in Mumbai and Hyderabad. The company said the investment will support cloud computing, AI services and digital tools for businesses, startups and public sector users. The announcement places AWS at the center of Amazon’s latest India expansion.

Modi welcomed the investment after the meeting and said it would create new opportunities for young people in India. The Prime Minister’s Office said the meeting took place on June 25, 2026. Amazon said Jassy reviewed the company’s India commitments and outlined its planned spending through the end of the decade.

    AI and cloud investment expands

The additional $13 billion lifts Amazon’s planned AI and cloud infrastructure investment in India to more than $21 billion from 2026 to 2030. Amazon said the funding will give Indian users wider access to custom AI chips, managed AI services, cloud technology and developer tools. The company linked the spending to demand from startups, enterprises and government organizations.

Amazon said its total planned investment in India from 2010 to 2030 now exceeds $88 billion. The company entered India more than a decade ago and has expanded across e-commerce, cloud computing, logistics, exports and digital services. Its latest plan adds capital for both technology infrastructure and the operations network that supports online retail.

    Jobs, exports and logistics included

Amazon said it has digitized 12 million small businesses in India since launch. The company also said it has enabled more than $20 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports and supported 2.8 million jobs. It said more than 10 million people in India have received cloud skills training through its programs.

The company said it plans to open more than 20 fulfillment centers and more than 100 last-mile delivery stations across India in 2026. Amazon said the additions will support faster deliveries, including in smaller cities. By 2030, the company aims to support 3.8 million jobs, enable $80 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports, expand AI benefits to 15 million small businesses and provide AI education to 4 million government school students.
